A Birthday Verse to my Favourite Person (1979)

A family poem by Mike — faithfully transcribed and preserved.

Typed transcription

The birthday wishes I here pen,
Are less than what you’ve earned,
You are so good and kind—my love
By your actions I have learned.

It is possible for a kindly soul
To care and care again,
Even though the recipient
Can be at times a pain.

Whatever I am lacking,
And I suspect quite a lot,
Your love is still undoubted,
As if you notice not.

Nor am I quite alone,
Remarking on your charms,
All your life others tell
For friends you did them earn.

So on this snowy Autumn morn,
With soft snow all around,
Remember many love you—
Good wishes fill the town.
